Hilo, Hawaii
Kathy Rindler
I opted to
take the Volcanoes National Park shore excursion today. How strange to
walk on the hardened lava and see the many steam vents that are all around
you. We even walked through a Lava Tube, a natural wonder unique to
Hawaii. We depart Hilo at 5:30pm and head towards Kona. What we
experienced while cruising that evening still gives me Goosebumps. At
11:00pm the Patriot sailed past one of the active volcanoes on the island.
The ship turned off her lights so that we could view the lava spewing out
the top of the volcano and flowing down the side of the mountain into the
Pacific Ocean...how spectacular.
