Nawiliwili, Kauai

The brochure clearly states that we will be arriving in
Kauai at 4:00pm on Sunday. Imagine my surprise upon awaking Sunday morning
and looking out the window, and seeing that we are pulling into port. When
asking the Purser about this, I was told that they put a later time in the
brochure in case we encounter problems enroute to our destination (10
hours?) I didn't buy it. My guess is that the brochure contains a
typographical error. But since we're here already, I'd better get my day
planned! I spent the morning inspecting the Marriott Hotel, which was
located within walking distance of the ship. If anyone is looking for a
place to stay on Kauai, I highly recommend the Marriott, it's beautiful! I
decided to sign up for the afternoon excursion to the Fern Grotto. This
shore excursion was okay but it turned out to be the least of my favorites
throughout the week.
I
decided to spend my second day on Kauai visiting Waimea Canyon, the Grand
Canyon of the Pacific. It is 10 miles long, one mile wide and 3,400 feet
deep and it's totally awesome! We'll be leaving Kauai at 5:30pm. This is a
beautiful, lush island, unlike any place I've ever visited. I'll
definitely return some day!
